The Galley

The galley is fitted with a large gas cooker, stainless steel sink unit and a full range of utensils and equipment. Both the galley and the shower/wash rooms are provided with hot and cold running water. Gas central heating via radiators provides rapid heating of the boat which also has two flushing toilets and electric lighting fitted throughout.

The Boat

The Narrow Boat Belfast is a 72ft steel hulled “Big Woolwich, Town Class” boat, built in 1936 by Harland and Wolff at Woolwich for the fleet of the Grand Union Canal Carrying Company. She has been refitted and converted for the use of young people. The boat can carry a maximum of fourteen people, with accommodation for twelve in the main cabin plus two berths in the separate boatman's cabin. This cabin is reserved for a Project steerer if one is provided. No more than 14 persons may be aboard at any time.
